Arashi-Te Budō Kai

Okinawan Karate   •   Traditional Jujitsu   •   Practical Kung Fu

“Don't blindly follow in the footsteps of the old masters, but rather seek what they sought.”
- Matsuo Basho

Founded in 2023, Arashi-Te Budō Kai (abbreviated ABK) is a small organisation dedicated to teaching practical self defence using traditional methods. Built around a core of traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu karate, it pulls in lessons, principles and techniques from Jujitsu (the original Japanese battlefield variant, not the Brazilian kind) and from the more practically focused systems of Kung Fu.

The name (Kanji: 嵐手武道会) means "Storm Hand Martial Arts School", drawing on the connotations of both destruction and rebuilding inherent in the storm. See the club and badge pages for more information on the symbolism invoked by ABK.

ABK is a proud member of the British Combat Association.
